From Vision to Reality
HBA Future Energy was established in 2015 by Hassan Basma and a team of industry veterans from Bumi Armada, one of the world’s leading FPSO contractors. Our founders brought together over 40 years of collective experience in offshore oil and gas, with a bold vision to apply this expertise to the renewable energy sector.

Under Hassan Basma’s leadership, who previously transformed Bumi Armada from a Malaysian offshore support vessel company into a global top-5 FPSO player, HBA has emerged as a pioneer in floating renewable energy solutions.
Today, with operations across 8 countries and a projected revenue of $500 million by 2028, we’re not just participating in the energy transition – we’re advancing it.

Founder and CEO of HBA, Mr. Basma brings 42+ years in energy and offshore sectors. As CEO of Bumi Armada, he transformed it into a top-5 global FPSO player and led one of the year’s most successful IPOs. He also held senior roles at Kvaerner and SBM.

Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sutharshanom has 25+ years of experience in business and financial services across Singapore, Australia, India, Norway, and the UK.
KC Gupta
Vice President – Floating Production Solutions
Mr. Gupta has 40+ years in project management, engineering, construction, and sales of process equipment across upstream and downstream oil & gas. He is experienced in refineries, petrochemicals, fixed platforms, and floating facilities (FPSO/FSO).
Steve Whiteley
Vice President – Asset Management and Operations
Mr. Whiteley has 40+ years in oil & gas, covering FPSOs, fixed platforms, refineries, and gas terminals. With prior roles at BP, Amerada Hess, Bumi Armada, and SBM Offshore, he brings expertise in operations, maintenance, project management, and international client relations.
